5.9 Readiness with an Eternal Perspective

Spiritual Preparedness

That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
Whom having not seen, you love; in whom, though now you see him not, yet believing, you rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. (1 Peter 1:7-9)

“….{1:9} Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: {1:10} That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:” Eph 1:9,10

Safeguarding our hearts through an eternal perspective

Amid the turmoil and challenges associated with current end-time events, an eternal perspective is crucial for safeguarding our hearts through the difficult times ahead. Practical Ways to Cultivate an Eternal Perspective may be listed as follows:

  • -Regularly meditate on Scripture that speaks of eternal life and God’s promises.
  • – Engage in prayer that aligns your heart with God’s will and perspective.
  • – Fellowship with others who encourage faith and hope in eternal realities.
  • – Reflect on the temporary nature of worldly troubles compared to the everlasting joy in God.

Adopting this perspective will help in the following ways:

1. To focus Beyond Temporary Circumstances
By keeping our eyes on eternal truths and the promises of God, we avoid being overwhelmed or consumed by the temporary difficulties of this world; —such as wars, natural disasters, or societal unrest. This helps maintain peace and hope in the heart.

2. Strengthens Faith and Trust in God
An eternal perspective reminds us that God is sovereign and in control, even when events seem chaotic. We trust that God is good, and God’s plans are always for our eventual good. Trusting in His ultimate plan provides stability and confidence, protecting our hearts from fear and despair.

3. Encourages Spiritual Priorities
When we view life through the lens of eternity, we prioritize spiritual growth, prayer, and relationship with God over material concerns. This guards our hearts against anxiety, greed, and distractions.

4. Promotes Perseverance and Endurance
Knowing that present trials are temporary and that eternal rewards await encourages perseverance. This resilience protects the heart from discouragement and weariness.

5. Guards Against Deception and Discouragement
An eternal mindset helps us discern truth from deception and remain vigilant. It keeps our hearts anchored in God’s Word, preventing us from being swayed by false teachings or hopelessness.
By safeguarding our hearts with an eternal perspective, we remain spiritually strong, hopeful, and grounded, no matter what unfolds in the world around us.

Spiritual Readiness

This post is based on a discussion between Jamie Walden and Tony Koretz (on http://aminutetomidnite.com/ – Aug ’25), Here are the steps for both spiritual and physical readiness

Strengthen Faith
Cultivate a deep and personal relationship with God through regular prayer, worship, and study of Scripture.

Prayer and Vigilance:- Maintain consistent prayer life, seeking guidance, protection, and discernment to navigate challenging times.

Discernment: Develop the ability to recognize truth from deception by grounding yourself in biblical teachings and staying alert to spiritual influences.

Cultivate Readiness
Be mentally and spiritually prepared for trials by trusting in God’s plan and remaining steadfast in faith.

Community and Fellowship: Engage with a supportive faith community for encouragement, accountability, and shared wisdom.

Stay Informed: Keep up to date with world events and understand their potential impact.
Practical Preparedness

  • Prepare for instability by having essential supplies such as food, water, and medical necessities.
  • Develop a Preparedness Plan: Create a plan for emergencies, including evacuation routes, communication methods, and resource management.
  • Build Skills: Learn practical survival skills like first aid, water purification, and basic self-defense.
  • Maintain Health: Keep physically healthy to endure potential hardships.

These steps together help ensure a balanced approach to facing the challenges indicated by current events and biblical prophecy.

The Sovereignty of God and end-time events:

The discussion also highlights a distinction between man-initiated and God-initiated end-time events:

Man-Initiated Events:

These include human actions such as wars, political unrest, economic instability, and environmental damage. The speakers point out that many current global crises—like escalating military tensions and societal chaos—are driven by human decisions and sinfulness. These events contribute to the unfolding of end-time conditions but originate from human choices and rebellion.
God-Initiated Events: In contrast, certain earth changes, natural disasters, and divine judgments are seen as acts of God fulfilling biblical prophecy. These events serve as warnings, corrections, or direct interventions from God to bring about His ultimate plan. They are beyond human control and signify the sovereign hand of God actively shaping the end times.

Overall, the discussion emphasizes that while human actions accelerate and contribute to the turmoil, the ultimate unfolding of end-time events is under God’s sovereign control, fulfilling His prophetic purposes. This understanding calls for spiritual readiness and trust in God’s plan amid the chaos.

Recommendations

Remain alert to unfolding world events and compare them to biblical descriptions of the last days. Refer to the Revelation Studies in Appendicxes. Take practical steps in preparedness—both spiritually and materially—for increased instability ahead.

Nevertheless, we ought to be a little bit excited!

Not about all the hard stuff coming on, but the Lord’s coming! Imagine no more pedophilia, no more divorces, no more fractured identities, no more wars, no more perversions, no more
genetic manipulations, no more creation groaning inwardly longing for the sons of glory to be revealed, because creation has been subjected to a curse. Like no more lies, no more deceit. The serpent, the Satan, and the beast, and everything with them are going to be bound eventually forever more. And they will never be allowed to do what they’ve been doing for the last 6,000 years. So, as we begin to see all these things taking place, we can stand up and look up with a heart filled to over-flowing being like, “Praise God, Jesus is coming soon.”
